If your house dates to the 1960s-70s like most of the area, the spring is likely original or close to it, and torsion springs have a rated cycle life regardless of climate. A mild temperate climate like Malibu's doesn't accelerate failure the way freeze-thaw regions do, but a spring that's run its full cycle count will go no matter how gentle the weather's been.
Not always. A lot of garages here were built into hillside lots around 1979, which means openings were cut to fit the slope rather than a standard 16-foot double. We measure before quoting anything, because a stock door forced into a non-standard opening causes track and alignment problems down the line.
